We are proud to announce that Purina has officially welcomed Hestekin Hills Pet Adoption Services to the 2009 Purina Pets for Seniors Program! This Purina Pet Food and Nestle Purina Pet Care Company program was founded in 1984.  The program is set up to assist seniors who are 60 years and older by reducing pet adoption fees. To qualify for the $50 reimbursement, participating senior citizen must complete a Purina® Pets for Seniors Adoption Application/survey.

To get a list of 2008 qualifying facilities link here: http://www.petsforpeople.com/Resources/media/2008shelter_list.pdf

The new 2009 list of qualifying facilities will be listed here soon.

How it works:

Each qualifying senior will be asked to review information that outlines the responsibilities and benefits of pet ownershipUpon receipt of the application/survey‚ a qualifying senior will receive a $50.00 discount towards their puppy dogs adoption fee.

Why do we participate?

Studies show that pet companionship may actually improve senior citizens’ health and outlook on life. Seniors acquiring pets through the program also report feeling happier, healthier and safer.  Dogs make people happy and people of all ages need love and companionship.

My glossary definitions:

Adoption: is the legal act of permanently placing a puppy dog into a permanent home, meaning he or she shall forever be in your care.

Purchase:  is when ownership is obtained in exchange for money or value which is also called buying, ownership can change easily with no strings attached.  Most things bought and owned are eventually discarded somewhere along in life.

The puppy dog you have selected is guaranteed by Hestekin Hills to the original adoptor. This puppy appears to be of sound body, and in good health, as far as appears to the eye at the time of this adoption. The adoptor is strongly urged to establish a relationship with a Veterinarian of their choice within 24 hours of the adoption to assure that they will follow through with this puppy dogs health care. This puppy is guaranteed until the age of 1 year against hereditary and congenital disorders that will interfere with the puppy dogs ability to lead a normal life, excluding umbilical hernias. Should a veterinarian find such a hereditary or congenital disorder, you simply supply us with your veterinarians written report and the report from the OFA or GDC, stating that this puppy dog is indeed severely affected. This puppy dog would then be replaced with another of equal value, and as available. We reserve the right to have any diagnosis verified by a veterinarian of our choice. At no time should a puppy/dog be placed in any rescue organization, shelter, pound or any other such organization, and/or for any reason. If a situation such as this ever presents itself to you, you simply are guaranteeing me that you will be responsible enough to return this puppy/dog to me so that I can aid in placing him/her in a new loving home.

This puppy dog has been adopted as a pet. You as the adoptor agree to keep this puppy in top condition.  It is recommended that you have this puppy dog spay/neutered, if not already done.  If this Adoption Agreement is violated, the adoptor agrees to pay the difference of the adoption fee, which is equal to the amount already paid.
